Integrated Coastal Bio-Optical Dynamics: Impact of Atmospheric and Tidal Fronts (ICoBOD)

Objective: The objective of this project is to improve understanding of, and quantify, the impact of physical forcing processes on fine-scale bio-optical variability in shallow, dynamic, coastal waters. Specifically, we will assess the impact of two key factors, passage of atmospheric fronts and development of tidal current fronts, on bio-optical distributions. During a field campaign, we will combine remote sensing and in situ observations to establish relationships between the physical forcing and the bio-optical response. Furthermore, we will evaluate the ability of a high-resolution coastal hydrodynamic model to capture the observed distribution patterns.
